About
Cortex AI is Snowflake's set of AI features — LLM inference, AI SQL functions, document parsing and agents — called from SQL or through APIs against data already held in Snowflake.[1] It is billed separately from platform compute, in AI Credits whose on-demand price differs between globally and regionally served models, with per-feature rates set by token, message or compute time.[2] Captured on 2026-09-18, an AI Credit costs $2.00 on demand for globally served models and $2.20 for regionally served ones, and each feature converts usage into AI Credits at its own published rate — for example AI_COMPLETE on claude-4-sonnet at 1.80 AI Credits per million input tokens and 9.00 per million output tokens.[2]
